Question-

For all of you FANTASTIC photographers out there that read my blog, I have a question. Do you just carry your big ol' camera with you everywhere you go? I am always finding photo ops...swim lessons, Gr. and Gr. house, etc. but I haven't lugged the camera with me....since you never know, and I don't ever want to leave it in the hot car...what do you do?

I have had this same dilemma since I got my big ol' camera almost 3 years ago. I finally got Donny to get me a purse-sized camera for my birthday. :) Now I take the big one with me when it's something special or something I know I'm going to want pictures of and I almost always have the little camera in my purse for when I don't want to take the big one. I've gotten some surprisingly decent pictures with the little one. :)

I bring my xti with me everywhere I go, with a small lens on it. It fits inside of my purse. On the other hand, the only time I'd be bringing my 5D with my huge lens anywhere is if I know the lighting is going to be perfect and I'm really in the mood to take some good pictures. I've even been guilty of packing my point and shoot and adding some pizazz after the fact in photoshop.

I have a small Canon point and shoot (also shoots video) that is my everyday camera (I never leave home without it). I only bring out my heavy Nikon DSLR if I'm 1) only going to one location (birthday party), 2) have a stroller, or 3) it's somewhere really special for great photos.

For something like swimming lessons, I would bring a small point and shoot each time (in case Jaxon does something fantastic) but then I'd bring your fancy camera once or twice to specifically get really pretty shots. You can also get a case for your camera to take underwater shots (that would be sooo cool!).
