This is us...

We have really been stretching lately to find fun, indoor, cool activities, and this is what we have come up with-

1. Brailyn and Malia invited us to come to a summer movie with them! It was Jaxon's first movie, and despite it being and hour and 20 minutes, he lasted through the WHOLE THING! It was also a Wallace and Grommet Movie, not really his cup of tea, but he was so excited to actually be there that we stayed. He was in and out of his booster a few times, (on purpose, and several times because he got to close to the edge and fell out) He sat on his chair without his booster, but was too light and he got closed in it. He insisted for about 30 seconds that he liked it that way, but then demanded to be un-trapped. He also reached out and grabbed Brailyn's hand several times during loud music...I like to think he was protecting her, rather than looking for protection!

2. Indoor Baseball- Mommy Pitch! This is me pitching the big red ball to Jaxon and also trying to get a picture at the same time. I love that he is holding the bat upside down in some of them! After about 20 minutes of pitching to Jaxon I decided we should take a field trip to Toys R Us to get him a little baseball "T"...that way I wouldnt have to keep pitching (not that my pitching skills don't rock, cause they do!) Well, at the store we had the choice between a BORING OLD REGULAR T, or a SWEET BATTERY OPERATED T that ALSO shoots the baseballs out. Lets be serious, I got the battery operated one, knowing full well that it would be a cold day in heck before Jaxon could hit a baseball shot out of a pitching machine (the poor kid still has trouble with walking and not falling...) and also knowing that Dave and I could get hours of fun from the machine!

3. Indoor Baseball- Machine Pitch! This was absolutely hysterical to watch. Jaxon would get so excited about the ball shooting out that he would often forget to swing and get hit in the head instead. He would them start smacking at the ball on the ground, forgetting that another one would be shortly shooting out again! Needless to say he didn't get a lot of hits, but we had a great time!

4. Art Easel! I found this baby at KB toys at the mall on clearance for 13 dollars! We set it up and Jaxon loves it. He feels very professional, and often makes up stories about what he is drawing.

What does everyone else do when it's too hot to go out? I'm running out of ideas!

I think you should give him a can of paint and a paint brush and really let his creative juices flow. Just think if he is ever a famous artist your whole house could drasticaly increase in value!

I just thought it was funny how you said Wallace and Grommit aren't his cup of tea, considering that those English men probably love their tea!

Those pictures are great. I can just imagine Jaxon hitting his own little head while swinging for the baseball.
Too cute.

You have some great ideas for indoor activities.

For us, because it's hot, humid, & raining every day, we like to:

Go to libraries

Go to childrens museums

Go to the mall

Build with lego blocks & bristle blocks (yesterday Noah made a Russian palace for Matt because, and I quote, "Daddy is a Russian guy")

Cook/bake together (mini bagel pizzas are our fav- we "bam" a la Emeril all the ingredients)... I have the A/C running so it's not so bad having the oven on. Worth it when the kids have so much fun.

Dance & Sing & Race around to music (mainly "Cars" music & Rock & Roll)

Play w/ playdough. We make fun animals

Make crafts (I get ideas from familyfun.com)

Clean up always takes tons of time, too.

Then I give them "free play" time. Gives me time to re-read Harry Potter, etc.

Good luck with your summertime activities.
