Another great idea I am stealing from Cicily! Since my 10 year reunion is coming up this Oct. I thought this stroll down memory lane was quite fitting.

Zoo fun with Brailyn
Jaxon had a play date at the zoo today with Brailyn, the daughter of Clint and Malia, long time friends of Dave, and of course now mine. They also had a playdate on Saturday where Jaxon put Brailyn in a headlock, nearly knocked her off the bed their were playing on several times, and was basically to "wild and crazy" for her taste. (He also gave her a few too many hugs at my request...HEY...I thought it might help!) Well, I don't think Brailyn has forgotten that Jaxon is a little too wild for her, and she gave him a wide berth at the splash pad at the zoo today. Jaxon doesn't stay still anyways, so she was never in much danger of having to spend any lengthy amounts of time with him, but she wasn't taking any chances. They had a great time playing in the water, and then looking at the monkeys and the goats. By the time we got home they were both out cold, which in my opinion is the best possible ending to a playdate!
Jaxon, what exactly are you looking at?????
Jaxon also enjoyed hugging several Goats... I think I have a very friendly child!

Growing up
Motherhood...What an adventure! Monday night Grampa ferrell babysat Jax so Dave and I could go to a going away party! (good luck at Yale Jarrod!!!) Well Jaxon and Papa are best buds, and Papa couldnt bear to put Jaxon to bed...so...he didn't! At 9 when we picked Jaxon up, he was still WIDE AWAKE!!! Well yesterday, we saw the full effects of going to bed two hours past our bedtime. At about 4:30 Jaxon was in complete meltdown mode, and I was about to jump off the balcony. (For those of you who know that we don't actually have a balcony...Im just painting a mental picture!) Anyway, it was about a billion degrees outside as usual, but I went to my last resort of outside play. Jaxon immediately turned around, and we had a fantastic, albeit toasty, time for about half an hour. When we were both drenched with sweat I insisted that we go back in, and meltdown mode continued...but during that half hour I had such a fun time with Jaxon, and I got some really cute photos! Did I mention that Motherhood is an adventure?...and a pretty hard job!
Thanks Jen
Little White Dress
I know this is my third blog entry today, but as they say..."when it rains"...anyway, Dave said something so hilarious and out of character yesterday, that when he said it, I immediately said, " I'm going to blog that, and you can't stop me!" He asked, begged, and pleaded, but to no avail- here's the story---
yesterday we were driving on the freeway and saw a couple with a flat tire. The very well-endowed women was sitting on a high retaining wall, in a very low-cut WHITE summer dress. Dave says, " Well, that's an interesting dress, and she's sure lucky it's NOT after labor day!"
How on earth does Dave know that you are not supposed to wear white after labor day? Seriously, where did I find this guy?
(Love you Dave! You never cease to amaze me!!!!!!)

Fun at the Rogers
To Be or not to Be
So, I have to admit it, my sis Amber talked me into trying out for "who wants to be a millionaire" with her this morning. I woke up at 4 am to get ready, pick her up, and drive to Wild Horse Pass Casino. We waited outside for a few hours, then inside for a few more before we got to the test area. There there 30 questions, and we were both pretty positive that we had answered at least 25 of 30 correct. Compared to the dingbats we had around us, we knew we were on to the next stage (interviews) for sure. Well, guess who didn't make it through? Both of us!!! Out of 200 people in the room, I'd say somewhere between 10 and 15 made it. Oh well, it was a fun experience and great to spend some quality time with my sister. Of course, I photo documented it for blog purposes.
PS for those of your scoffing that Amber had to "convince" me to try out, I swear its true, I think my gaming days are over, and it is truely out of my system!
Time flies
How is it that I have been too busy to write for a week, but now that I have time, I can't think of one interesting thing that has happened in the last week?
Wait, I had my "bunco" (AKA girls night with no bunco involved) on Friday. IT was a lot of prep. but so much fun. We had a buff yoga instructor (not to hard on the eyes if you know what I mean...) come and do an hour of relaxation yoga with us, it was awesome. Then all weekend was youth conference. I got to get up at 5:30 to go help give a face lift to an old park in downtown Mesa...doesn't sound like a lot of fun to work outside for 4 hours in 110 degree heat in jeans (no shorts rule) and a black t-shirt (designed by the youth committee), but it actually was awesome. Its great to see kids pull together and make a big difference. Then mini-classes all day and a swim party Sat. night. Thats about all for us. Jaxon is currently taking a marathon afternoon nap (going over 2 hours) which is a miracle because I thought he was dropping his afternoon nap...it's amazing how as a mother, the strangest things make you smile!

"She-shuh"
Like Parent, Like Child
Something so funny happened today. Our little Jaxon is getting so independent and also quite stubborn like both of his parents. Another side note to know before hearing this story, is that Jaxon's arch-enemy is the microwave. When he wants something, he wants it NOW, and doesn't understand the point of putting it into the microwave, just for it to move around in circles for 30 seconds before taking it out again.
This morning, I was letting Jaxon help me get his breakfast so be can start exerting his independence in some useful ways. He got a frozen waffle out of the bag I was holding, but when I told him to put it in the microwave- he whacked me with it!! (this is not the funny part!!!) I tried and tried to get him to put it into the microwave but to no avail. I then told him he would have to have something else for breakfast becuase you can't eat a frozen waffle. Well, Jaxon looked me straight in the eye, and started gnawing. I thought it was hilarious but supressed my laughter, figuring he would give up in a few seconds. Well, I was wrong. So I decided, who the heck cares if he wants to eat it frozen? I put him in his chair and he ate half of the waffle (same amount he eats when it is cooked and dipped in syrup!) Im not sure if he enjoyed it, or if he just did it to spite me, but breakfast is breakfast, right?!?

Budgeting stinks!
Is there anyone who likes to budget??? We are cracking down on ours again, because we are doing everything possible to avoid any debt besides the house and school loans, but man, when you really get down to it, everything costs!!! It's amazing how many "little things" you don't budget for, and how those "little things" add up so darn quick. As much as it stinks, I am glad we are scrutinizing out finances so carefully, becuase it's a good eye-opener on how picking up just a few extras here and there, really do make a big difference. I guess for most all of us, there will never come a time where you just don't have to budget at all, your budget just gets progressively bigger. That reminds me, a 90 year-old hip great-granny I know just told me that her 60 year old son (whom she now lives with) put her on a budget, and she's pretty miffed. I guess when your 90, and raised up a successful son, you just figure you've earned the right to be budget free... one can only hope!
Wisconsin Trip
Jaxon and I recently returned from a Week in Wisconsin, and here are some pictures to prove it! The flights (3 and a half hours)were what I was most worried about, but I lucked out both ways. Both ways we sat in the bulk head next to an 18 year old girl (different girl each leg) and they LOVED Jax. They immediately held him and started playing with him, and he dug through their purses, played with their ipods etc. I would say he spent about 80% of each flight with the girls. (thank you Melody and Christine wherever you are!!!)He did not cry or get cranky at all either way! I did have to tell one scary crazy guy sitting in the row behind us that Jaxon nor I were allowed to talk to strange men. He then proceeded to introduce himself, so as not to be a stranger, and tried to hold Jaxons hand. I again told him no thank you. He didn't quite get the picture, so I turned around and told him not to touch or talk to Jaxon or I again. Sounds a little rude I know, but he really gave me the creeps, and you can never be to careful!
Jaxon did have a lot of trouble sleeping in a new place, and at 3 am after an hour of crying, I gave in, and we sleep in the bed in his room. I can't believe he even slept, but I was woken up at 6:30 with a hard smack in the nose, followed by hilarious laughter~! After the first night, he got more used to his surroundings, and he slept in his pack-n-play the rest of the time.
Jaxon was obsessed with my sis-in-laws pregnant tummy (small though it is), and while the pictures don't do it justice, he spent about 10 minutes trying to wrestle with it! I think we can safely say that Jaxon is the first cousin to play with soon-to-come baby katie.
The weather was great, mid-70's, but still a little humid for my taste. Wisconsin sure is beautiful though, I can't imagine what it's like to have the forest as your back yard!
