That happened to me and I started uploading my photos to photobucket first and then use the HTML code to paste the image into my blog post... You can see the directions on the sidebar of my hope&believe blog. :)
Also, I believe that you can go into your picasa account that is attached to your blog (the link is on the pop up window that comes up when you click to upload photos) and delete entries there, if you wish, but then they will not show up on your blog posts...
